We have many successful research projects to date, including research performed for clients such as Allergan and Hill Dermaceuticals.
Leslie S. Baumann MD - Primary Investigator
Dr. Baumann is our primary investigator (PI). Dr. Baumann has performed over 15 clinical trials, 6 of which were Phase 3 clinical trials for the Federal Food & Drug Administration (FDA). Her research interests include antioxidants, antiaging, acne, botulinum toxin, collagen, Dermalogen™, Cymetra™, hyaluronic acid, melasma, solar lentigos, hair loss, hirsutism and lasers. She also researches cosmetic ingredients examining their efficacy and safety. She has a master's degree.
Heather Woolery-Lloyd, MD - Director of Hair
and Ethnic Skin Care, Division of Cosmetic DermatologyAssistant Professor of
Dermatology and Cutaneous Surgery, UM/Miller School of Medicine
Dr. Woolery-Lloyd has
participated as Co-investigator and Principal Investigator in numerous
clinical trials. She has years of experience in multiple aspects of
research, ranging from basic science research to large clinical trials. Dr.
Woolery-Lloyd specializes in cosmetic concerns of ethnic skin. Dr. Woolery-Lloyd
is a member of the Editorial Advisory Board of Skin & Aging and writes a
column for the same publication, entitled Ethnic Skin and Hair. Her other
interests include scarring, cellulite, and hair disorders.

Fangchao Ma, MD, PhD - Statistical
Consultant
Research Assistant
Professor of Dermatology and Cutaneous Surgery,
UM/Miller School of Medicine. Dr. Ma
is trained in preventive medicine and epidemiology. His primary research
interest is skin disease epidemiology. Dr. Ma is currently helping us design
several longitudinal studies, and to collect data so that retroactive
studies can be conducted in the future based on our huge database with
detailed Skin Type information.
Research Fellows
Melissa Chesler Lazarus
Melissa Lazarus is a 4th year medical student who took a year off from medical
school to do dermatology research. She will be here from June 2000 to July 2001.
Melissa has been a great asset to derm.net / UMCC because she is very organized
and has written multiple publications on our research findings. She and Dr.
Baumann are coauthors of a column called "Cosmeceutical Critique" in the
dermatology newspaper
Skin and Allergy News that discusses the research of various cosmetic
ingredients.
