Baumann Cosmetic & Research Institute is committed to educating and inspiring physicians in the rapidly emerging field of cosmetic dermatology. In addition to offering online educational material, we have a monthly fellowship and we offer training seminars on how to perform cosmetic procedures and build your cosmetic practice.

Global Cosmetic Dermatology Alliance

For many years, cosmetic dermatology was not taught as a subject in its own right. Dermatologists only learned the subject through apprenticeship and attending congresses. In the last few decades, life expectancy has increased considerably, and people have become more concerned about their appearance – particularly as it is affected by aging. Dermatologists are the best trained people to address these prominent new concerns.

Internationally recognized cosmetic dermatologist Leslie Baumann, MD, and some of her fellows recognized a need for an alliance that would gather together research scientists from the fields of cosmetics and skin aging – clinicians specializing in the therapeutic techniques of cosmetic dermatology and those who received training under Dr. Baumann's guidance. The idea of the Global Cosmetic Dermatology Alliance (GCDA) was thus born.

Research Fellow

BCRI Research Fellows This is a one-year salaried position. The applicant must have completed at least four years of medical school and possess a strong desire to pursue a career in cosmetic dermatology. The fellow will report to and be supervised directly by Dr. Baumann. Job responsibilities and training will include the design and execution of clinical trials, writing for journals and textbooks, and lecturing on cosmetic dermatology issues.

International Fellow

This is a month-long specialty training program designed for cosmetic dermatologists from outside the U.S. to develop skills in cosmetic dermatology. Because of licensing issues, this is an observation-only experience. The fellow will be supervised directly by Dr. Baumann, but will have the opportunity to work with other physicians in Miami – Dr. Heather Woolery-Lloyd, Dr. Diane Walder, Dr. Jeff Epstein, Dr. Stephen Mandy, Dr Joely Kaufmann, Dr. Lisa Grunebaum, Dr. Marianna Blyumin-Karasik and Dr. Debra Price.

The applicant must be able to comprehend English well enough to benefit from the experience. Proof of dermatology residency or its completion is required, and you must be board-certified in your home country. The tuition for one month is $3,000. Longer periods of training can be organized when necessary. We also offer a one-year research fellowship for American physicians who have completed their dermatology residencies.

Meet the Fellows
